🔹Prof. Dr. med. Helmuth Steinmetz has embarked on a distinguished academic and professional journey.

🔹He began his studies in Law and Medicine in Cologne and Gießen, spanning from 1974 to 1982. Following this, from 1982 to 1984, he served as a Medical Officer (Stabsarzt) at the Bundeswehr Hospital Gießen, specializing in the fields of Neurology and Psychiatry.

🔹During this time, in 1983, he completed a doctoral thesis titled "Die fibrinolytische Aktivität des Liquor cerebrospinalis nach spontanen Subarachnoidalblutungen" at Justus-Liebig University Gießen. Subsequently, from 1984 to 1986, he worked as an Assistant Doctor in the Neurosurgery and Neuroradiology departments at the University Hospital Tübingen.

🔹His career advanced significantly as he transitioned from an Assistant Doctor to Senior Doctor and eventually Chief Senior Doctor, assuming the Hermann-und-Lilly-Schilling-Stiftungsprofessor (C2) position at the Neurology Clinic of the University Hospital/Heinrich-Heine University Düsseldorf from 1987 to 1998.

🔹In 1989, he achieved specialization in Neurology, and in 1991, he accomplished Habilitation and Venia legendi (the right to teach) in Neurology at Heinrich-Heine University Düsseldorf. His notable journey continued as he assumed the role of Director at the Department of Neurology at the Center for Neurology and Neurosurgery of the University Hospital/Goethe University Frankfurt from 1998 to 2022.

🔹Additionally, he served as the Vice-Dean for Research Affairs in the Faculty of Medicine at Goethe University Frankfurt from 2001 to 2007 and was a Member of the Senate at Goethe University Frankfurt from 2013 to 2017.
